Weekly Update and Collector’s Edition Bookmarks!

Hello friends and wonderfully well-dressed wedding visitors! This is your weekly update about the creation of the adventure An Unexpected Wedding Invitation.

*** First sneak peek from the Collector’s Edition ***
We’re excited to share a photo from  Chris O’s Creations, the leatherworking artisan who is creating the custom bookmarks for the Collector’s Edition! The bookmarks are turning out beautiful and we really look forward to start packing the boxes!

*** The book ***
We’re hard at work on the book and are making great progress! Our creative process works something like this: First, we write a messy first draft of the adventure and create a mock-up of the entire book so that we know what goes where and (roughly) how many pages there’ll be. After that, we focus on one chapter at the time and start adding art. We’ll keep tweaking and tinkering until the text, graphic design, and the art look amazing together.

This part sometimes takes a while, and there are always surprises (bits of text that must be added, images that require less or more space, or brand new ideas that demand a place in the book – or else!). But it’s working brilliantly for us, and it lets us make sure that the end result is a wonderful book we’re proud to release! :)

Weekly update and Stunning Fantasy Art!

Hello friends and admirable adventurers!

*** Stunning fantasy art! ***
We have to share this! The amazing artist Daniel Kvasznicza is nearly done with the wedding scene form the adventure! In the background you can see Eastern Farraway’s famous waterfall, Argentïs Falls. The wedding guests are gathered for the traditional handfasting ceremony between the bride and the groom, while they receive Selene’s blessing.

*** The book ***
We’re working away on the book here in the Midnight Tower while spring is in full force in Oxford. We’re writing, editing and designing our way through the compendium and working on the maps and art for the adventure.

*** Wedding outfits in the making ***
We’ve just sent the descriptions for a set of dashing fantasy outfits to the fabulous artist Alaina Milare, and we had a great time writing up all the details for them. Outfits are fun and super-important! (Tove has spent hundreds of hours in Guild Wars 2 arranging and re-arranging her character’s outfits a million times.)

We hope that you’ll like the outfits, and that they’ll be useful for making sure that the adventurers arrive at the wedding in style! Some of the costumes and petticoats may end up “six inches deep in mud” before the evening is over and the mystery has been solved.

Weekly Update and an Elven Wedding Ring

Hello friends and gracefully gallant wedding guests!

*** New artwork ***
We’d like to share some new fantasy artwork that we’ve just received! This time, it’s a gorgeous elven wedding ring, tastefully set with exquisite pearls and rubies. The ring is an example of the exquisite elven craftmanship, which is evident in the elegant design that borrow shapes and beauty from nature.

The elven wedding ring was made by our fantastic illustrator Janna Sophia, who keeps amazing us with her artwork! – And it’s through your support for the book that we can work with her – so a huge thank you for backing the project!!! :)

*** The book ***
Work on the book is going as planned and at full steam! We’re currently editing texts, drawing maps, writing on the stretch goals for the compendium, and ordering items from local artists and dice makers for the Collector’s Edition boxes.
We’ve also created the first test layout of the entire adventure – stay tuned for a preview in future updates.

Weekly Update and New NPC Art!

Hello friends and striking soon-to-be elvish wedding guests, this is your first weekly update from Midnight Tower!

*** New NPC art ***
Our amazing fantasy illustrator Alaina Milare has sent over the finalised image of the gnome Roslinda Brynborn! Upbeat, colourful, and friendly to a fault, Roslinda is sure to be noticed as she mingles with the visitors at the wedding – and the characters will definitely catch her interest. However, even the brightest smile may have something to hide, such as unexplained magic powers and clandestine secrets…

*** The campaign ***
The totally and utterly fantastic campaign is over and we’re now in Full-Throttle Work Mode. There are paragraphs to add, texts to tweak, art to draw, maps to create, and images to complete. We’re also awaiting more artwork for the book that we’ve commissioned thanks to unlocking stretch goals during the campaign and we also need to continue working on the compendium. Full steam ahead!!!

We’ll be in touch every week until the book is released and share our progress, so stay tuned to find out how the project is coming along.

Hello friends and brilliant, wonderful, super-fantastic D&D and Jane Austen enthusiasts!!!

*** The campaign is over ***
And what a campaign it was!!!! The journey from when we nervously hit “launch” a month ago to this day has been wild beyond belief!

A totally astonishing 5,488 backers joined the project and sent it skyrocketing beyond Pemberley and into outer space! Every stretch goal was unlocked at blinding speed – sometimes, we didn’t even have time to update the campaign page! :)
A tremendous THANK YOU from us to you for believing in this project! Thanks to your amazing support, this book will be absolutely fantastic!!!

*** What’s next? ***
We’ll continue with weekly updates about the project until the book is ready for release!
The updates will let you know how the book comes along and we’ll share sneak peeks from the book and fantasy artwork. We’ll also write more information about collecting addresses and surveys later on, so stay tuned. :)
